I was reminded yesterday (Christmas Day) as I prepared a feast for friends, and as Jenn said in her December 1st posting, Suck it Up Buttercup, that we all have choices to make. I remind myself of that especially when food is everywhere, the next looking even tastier than the last. I won’t lie and say it’s always easy, but it is simple: I have to make choices that promote my health and well-being.
Christmas dinner was amazing, but did I pass out in a food coma afterwards? Nope; one serving was delicious and enough thanks. That said, I wish I could claim that food just jumped into my mouth because yes, I sometimes made less than stellar choices (damn I like butter tart squares!), but I don’t then go batshit crazy and eat everything in sight for a month in a crazed food orgy to punish myself. So, here’s my post Christmas checklist:
- Enjoyed Christmas dinner? Check.
- Went back on the plan? Check.
- Butter tart squares for breakfast? Not so much…
Now it’s off to some Boxing Day fun with friends – we were supposed to go snowshoeing but there’s not enough snow, so we’re going indoor rock climbing.
